Feel baby kick on the outside

posted 16th May
Hello all,

It's been quite some time since I was last pregger's and I've forgotten when other people can start feeling the baby move by placing their hands on my tummy.

Can anyone tell me when I should expect to feel the baby move on the outside?

I'm a little bit farther than you and I can't feel from the outside yet. But I am overweight so maybe that has something to do with it. I am anxious to let hubby feel him kick.

We were able to feel it pretty early...around like 16 weeks. But everyone is different and so are our babies. Good luck it is so fun when you can feel it and other people too. More fun when you can see it right

Mmm... I would say about 28 weeks or so?

I'm not itty bitty either! As a matter of fact I've put on 15 lbs since I started going to the ob, but because I was heavy prior to the pregnancy the dr. told me that I have reached my max. weight gain! Nice...

I am certainly not itty bitty, and like you my doctor gave me a max. weight gain. Well, I have gained 40 lbs with this pregnancy! Luckily I only have 3 weeks left so hopefully the weight gain will be at a minimum!

What did the dr. tell you about max weight gain? Last time I went in and they weighed me I just started crying cuz I KNEW they were going to give me crap and sure enough they did. Midwife even went as far as to say "and if you're drinking juice, you might want to pick up a can of diet soda instead". What the....!

I was told no more than 20 lbs and sure enough, i doubled that. My new doctor doesnt give me too much shit about my weight because I am almost done, but still they all know that I have gone over my "limit". I was 232 at the appt I found out I was pregnant at. I lost 2 lbs, and then gained 40 lbs. I am at 270 (as of last week) and couldn't be more upset about it! Haha. Your midwife is not really all that smart... diet soda has Phenyphaline (sp?) in it and that is NOT good for the baby or you! Did you know if you heat that shit up enough it turns into formaldahyde?? I think it also causes cancer, and like i said, no good for that baby!! If you look in the ingrediants of stuff, look for "Sucralose" and "Aspertame"---both are "fake sugar". I would say, drink more water, and don't worry about the sugar, as long as its not in excess.

Oh! I'm totally with you on that one and would NOT drink diet soda. Besides being bad for mama and baby, it also causes people to gain MORE weight! I decided since she's gonna be off the chain with giving advice like that, if I go in and haven't gained any weight I'll tell her that "I started doing meth, but don't worry I made it myself!" I can't WAIT to see the look on her face. She will probably be just as shocked as I was when she told me to drink diet soda!

you can have diet soda as long as its made from splenda and stuff......I was just diagnosed with GD and have to watch my sugars from now until he is born and my dr said a diet soda is a whole lot better then letting my blood sugars go up....but you can't have like 3 big gulps...lol I know here in FL publix store brand diet is all made wth splenda and that is ok for you....other then that Diet Rite with made with splenda and no caffeiene....I agree water is best but if you want just one can or cup of soda I would say have the diet with splenda over anything

You can't always listen to the dr's... they are the same people who prescribe this drug and that drug only to find out it's killing people left and right. I'm going to follow my instinct and not consume that sort of stuff.

As an update, my boys felt the baby kick yesterday! It was VERY exciting!!!!
