Autism/Adhd Meds

I am trying to find a stimulant that is in liquid form or can be crushed. My 7 year old is Autistic and has ADHD. Took him to the doctors and he keeps giving him stimulants that can not be crushed or is in liquid form. My son can't take pills at all. Any suggestions I can give my son's doctor??? Thanks ahead of time.  )

can you crush those pills and put them in a spoon full of yogurt or jam.. though I know ADHD kids aren't allowed some foods...maybe mash it up with a banana?

My son is on Vyvance for ADHD which is a capsule that can be pulled apart. May be a possibility.

A lot of meds are not supposed to be crushed up ( screws up the release) I know your doctor can order it as a compound ( liquid)

adderal can be sprinkled on to apple sauce or what not ...we had to do that for awhile with out almost 9 year old ..

You can't crush all stimulants, just some. We have only tried one, 20 mg Vyvanse, It seemed to make him more whiny and cry a lot. He was totally out of character. Now that it is close to school time again I have to think about getting him back on some medicine for his ADHD. Otherwise it is very difficult to get and keep his attention.

our son has PDD ...they say its like autism with the adhd ...he just doesnt have enough signs of autism to be on the spectrum....we tryed so many diff meds for him to help with school ....and the only one that seems to work for him that is ...is adderal 15 mg xr ....i wish you luck though ....it can be a very long ride finding the right meds

Thanks so much! I will deff talk with my son's doctor. My son was diagnosed with Autism at 14 months. He had such classic signs it was unmistakable. Lately he has been so aggressive and teary eyed. really doubt Adderall will help him with any of that however I am hoping it will calm him down enough to learn in school. He has always been very hyper, inattentive, and impulsive. Thanks again!!!
