ok so here it is...... HERNIA

posted 15th May
So a little while back I posted about a pain in my stomach. Well, i finally found out today that I have a hiatal hernia. Now, after she told me, I shrugged it off bc I know it's not a big deal, but later I realized that it may cause problems when trying to push for delivery. Now I'm freaked out bc I DO NOT want a c section by any means. That and the epidural are my greatest fears. Did anyone else get a hernia from being pregnant? was it sympotmatic? and how did you deliver bc of it????????? Thanx in advance

No, a hiatal hernia is where your esophagus enters your diaphragm so its in my upper right quadrant of my stomach

Hiatal hernias usually just cause heartburn. It shouldn't cause any problems with pushing. I've had hearburn all my life. I could be wrong though. If you have any questions, you should ask your doctor. Also, don't knock the epidural till you try it. The only thing I felt was the numbing shot. I never felt the big needle or any of my contractions, or the pushing. It was wonderful!

Yeah, that would make a lot of sense, but no it's in the upper part. umm, oh yeah, I'm not knowcking epi's I actually want one if I can't handle the pain. I'm just terrified of needles. I guess it doesn't help that I you tubed epi's last week. now im even more petrafied!!!

I did that too before I had one. I still had it done though. You don't have to see the needle and I promise I didn't feel a thing. I would definitely reccomend it. I pushed for an hour and had a fourth degree tear so I definitely needed an epi. I should mention that my daughter did weigh 9 lbs.

I have a hiatel(sp?) hernia and was told it won't cause me any problems in labor. It pretty much just causes heartburn.
