i think it is different minimun amounts for different states but my bd has no job and he still has to pay 150 a month, obviously i havent got any lol but it is racking up! and if they dont pay eventually they will have a warrant and then possibly go to jail. it will suck they can garnish wages when he starts working, take his income tax check, take away drivers lisense, etc.

Yeah, I said earlier I wasn't sure if it was the same in the states.

This! If it is like my state then they will count his income as minimum wage at 40 hours per week, since that is his potential, then based off that they will court order and amount and it will rack up until he pays it.

It's different in the states, we were on FS and DH still has/had to pay CS.

I know in CT if you are approved for Cash Assistance, the money is taken from father even if he isn't working. For example, my brothers gf is getting cash assistance while he is in jail, so when he finally gets a job it will be deducted from his check. It's his way of paying child support.

In my case when this happened to me, I was ordered to pay what minimum wage was based at the time..

It was our divorce/child custody. He beat around the bush with telling the courts where I was. He was in alabama, I was in Kansas. I got notification a month before the court date, and had to scrounge up $700 to get there.. Couldnt afford a lawyer, didnt know what to expect..

He went for custody and child support. The stupid judge ordered me to pay even though I wasnt working. Based it off of minimum wage in Kansas at the time.. I was ordered to pay $160 a month.


The tables have been turned since then.

this is like what happened to my bf but reversed. his ex wasn't working, but was able to work and he was working, but not making a lot. she has the child most of the time. he has the standard "daddy schedule" (every wednesday every other weekend and alternating holidays). so, i think it makes sense.

was he the one who had the children?

I know in Arkansas, they will take it out of Unemployment checks. They did that to my ex-brother in law. He was also getting food stamps too.

They will make him pay the minimum and tell him to get a job
