low lying placenta

posted 6th Aug '12
My doc told me that my placenta was laying really low and that he was gonna do another u/s to see if it has moved but he also mentioned putting me on bed rest and I will go crazy if he puts me on b/r anyways I have been hurting pretty bad down there and been having a lot more braxton and hicks contractions and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions please help if u have had this problem

I had placenta previa as well. Mine moved up out of the way on its own. Just keep your fingers crossed that yours moves. I was on pelvic rest and not allowed to lift anything remotely heavy.

I had it. It corrected itself between my 19 wk and 27 wk US. It caused horrible bleeding at 12 weeks, we thought I was MC, I was put on pelvic rest until it corrected itself.

I was on bed rest for it. But that was due to a lot of other complications
As well. I was told no heavy lifting etc.. but that was my job in the warehouse at work and I did it anyways to feed my family.

It all depends my placenta was completely covering and didn't move at all. But I had a marginal placenta with my other two and was not told anything, they all.a.different midwives / drs...

I didn't have placenta previa but I did have low lying placenta, meaning my placenta was not touching or covering the cervix but that it was just close to it. That was found at my 20w anatomy scan and I was scheduled to come back for an US 5 weeks later, and it had moved up with my uterus. Low lying placenta has a greater chance of moving up with the uterus compared to placenta previa where it is completely covering the cervix. I was not put on any restrictions or bed rest.

I had a low lying placenta and it ended up moving up as my pregnancy progressed. They did weekly Non-stress tests and ultrasound son me to monitor me, but I just was told to take it easy and sit on my butt with my feet up when I wasn't working. My job I am required to lift 50+ lbs, but if you talk to your boss if you are working they can work with you to make sure you and your baby stay healthy. I am lucky and my boss is like a second father to me and the rest of the staff I am on. It's worth a shot! My doctor's were awesome and very knowledgable in this manner, and I ended up delivering a healthy 8lb 11.5 oz 22 inch long baby girl no problem. :c)

Mine happened the day after Christmas during a family dinner. It was horrible. And the ER made me wait in the waiting room for almost an hour before even seeing me. I'm just thankful things worked out.

13 days still gives it a chance to move up though. Hopefully it will.

the doctor I see on wednesday is going to decide whether or not I need one. REALLY hoping not. we were supposed to initially have a home birth but now we`re for sure in the hospital, I`d like to at least still have her naturally.

Do you have complete placenta previa, where it's covering the cervix?I was told anytime it's covering the cervix a csection is mandatory..

oh no no, just marginal but for some reason from 20 weeks to 34 weeks it didn`t budge like they normally do. They told me marginal previas almost always correct. My midwife said it has to be a certain distance away from the cervix for them to allow me to go into spontaneous labour. I had an u/s last week(37) that we`re waiting for measurements from, and then another on wednesday with the new doctor. it's frustrating being this close to my due date and not knowing whats going to happen lol
