Temper tantrum question

posted 5th Aug '12
Is 12 months old too young for a temper tantrum? There have been a couple of instances over the past week when DD has suddenly gotten extemely pissed off- screaming, throwing herself out of my arms, basically refusing to calm down regardless of what I do. I have to get a good grip on her and rock her to sleep. 2 out of the 3 times it happened, it was right after she sat crying for a couple minutes b/c she wanted to be picked up but I couldn't get to her right away. By the time I did, she had a complete meltdown upon my picking her up. She's only a year old- could this be a temper tantrum, or something else?

yea its possiable, 1yr old arent super verable yet there are forming a wide range of emotions and thoughts, so if they want something or need something and cant express it the way they really want too, tantrums can happen. When my daughter was 1, and she would be upset or frustrated I would ask her if she was upset and when doing so I would make fist and shake my hands to teach her that was a way of telling me she was upset. it worked. Also sign language really helped us! lol but now she is 2 verable and still a terror!! hahaha

If these really are temper tantrums (and I really don't know what else they could be)...OMG am I in serious trouble! She will be 1 on August 10th. I just feel like this is a little early, but I am still learning!

My 15 month old step son has temper tantrums. When he starts to have one I look at him and in a stern tone say " Aiden you're not a whiny baby." he stops, looks at me, then starts laughing and playing like normal.

my son is 9 months old and if you take something away from him that he's not suppose to have, he will throw himself all over me and cry lol. This is mostly around the time he is either hungry or very tired.
