Help me plan

So, we can't do anything too big for Aurora's birthday, but we want to make it special since we're going to be having a new baby around the same time. September 23 is my due date, and her birthday is Sept 29th.

We're hoping to do an advent calender of sorts. For a week or two before her birthday, let her open a small present (mostly homemade toys, like lacing cards, sensory bottles, playdough and books.)

For the actual day of, we were hoping to have a lot of fun activities! Like balloon painting, and whatnot. So, here are some ideas I have, and I'm hoping you guys could help me plan some of it!

Gifts for the time beforehand: Popsicle memory game, lacing cards, some sort of Ispy bag/bottle, this cupcake kit from Melissa and Doug (probably give this to her on the day of, in a birthday sensory bin), a magnetic dress up doll, a fishing game made up of socks lol, maybe some play makeup, and we REALLY want to make this board for her. There's also this 'timeout jar' which I want to make her, but more of a calm down thing, because of her tantrums.


Start off the day of with an awesome bath like that. And in no particular order, have an outdoor textured ball painting, instead of with balloons. Other than that, we might swim if the weather is decent. Any suggestions??

And mine. haha. Do you think that would help keep focus on her when the new baby is born? I know that if we do the two week thing, one of those days I'll end up in labor. So I'm just trying to keep her comfortable. Especially since I don't think we've prepared her as well as we can. We're going to let her pick out a toy, and we talk about what things are for the baby and whatnot.. I don't know what else to do.

That sounds great, how old is she?
When my second child was born, my oldest was only 15 months. To prepare her we bought her a nursery set and a baby doll. We 'taught' her how to interact with a newb, and told her mommy and daddy would be VERY busy with the new baby. Etc. It was more difficult considering she was so young, she didn't understand much. However if your daughter is a little older. I would suggest that sort of preparation. Baby doll, nursery set type thing. Tell her (in her age of understanding) this is what's going to happen etc.

i think having things leading up to her birthday and the due date is a good idea! Just don't overdue it, so when the child comes she becomes jealous from having all the attention on her, an then ALL on the new baby on her birthday. However she's to young to even recognize her birthday, then she wont know any different. It would be like.. "Oh i'm so special", then..."Now i'm not" .

She turns two in September, so just a little older than your child was. That's a great idea, though! I bet she'd love that.
