Scary tantrums

I know that tantrums in 3 yr old little girls are very normal but some time my daughters are out if control her father and I use the time out chair method in the corner of her room it works but some times her tantrums are so bad tht she throws her body hits her self , trashes her room and it lasts some times up to 10 minutes . It scares me because of the fact she could hurt her self . The last time she had a very bad tantrum she flipped out for 10 min then all of a sudden her mood changed and was all nice and wanted her daddy to lay with her . Is this something i should contact het doctor about or is it normal ?

My 3 years olds tantrums last much longer than 10 mins.

I've noticed that toddler girls are the biggest drama queens. I would be concerned though because if she's throwing herself and misc things around, she could hurt herself or somebody. My 3 year old throws tantrums but she just does the teenage smurf. Yelling and slamming doors.
Maybe talk to her pedi about it? I don't know what they would do for you though. She just needs to understand that getting frustrated is fine but lashing out is not okay.

10 minutes is actually pretty short IMO. A temper tantrum is a loss of emotional control so it doesn't sound excessive either. Is she having tantrums because she's been put in time out? If she is, do you make her go back to time out when she's done with her tantrum? Do you ignore the tantrums when she has one?

We ignore her when they arnt that bad but once she starts throwing her self around and we hear things being thrown i go in her room and tell her what shes doing is not okay
