31 wks having contractions and 50% effaced

posted 5th Aug '12
I was having pains the other day and went to hospital to find out I am having contractions and I am 50% effaced. Not dilated yet though. The nurse seemed to think I should be on bed rest again only 31 wks due oct 4th but drs didn't say anything. I was admitted for the night and released following day. Is it norMl to be 50% effaced at 31 wks? Should I be concerned about pre term labor? I still have contractions as well they are mild but still exist. I don't go back to drs until Friday another 5 days.

Yes ptl is a concern, you're having contractions that are changing your cervix, by definition that is ptl. You should defintiely be taking it easy, pelvic rest at the very least and probably something closer to moderate bedrest would be in order. good luck!
