Whine whine WHINE

posted 5th Aug '12
My son is 14 weeks old and whines almost constantly. Hes been doing it since birth and it has recently gotten way worse. I thought it was normal at first since im a ftm but i just spent a few days with relatives and they all were shocked by how unhappy he was all the time. Nothing I do makes it better, he just cries and whines all day. There will be maybe 2 times throughout the day that he is somewhat content and smiling but it never lasts more than 10-15min. Its soo tiring to hear him whining ALL DAY LONG. I now know whats normal and whats not and what he is doing is not normal. Anyone know why he does this? I really need some help because its starting to take a toll on my stress level and its starting to get depressing because he so unhappy all the time and idk why.

My son had colic, he screamed quite a bit.
Try: burping him more, running his legs in bicycle motions to help his tummy, use gripe water, more walks around the neighborhood/park, car rides..

My daughter started shortly after birth and she's 7 months old now and it hasnt gotten much better.

Hang in there Mamma. That's what they do. Think about where they were before they were born? All nice and warm in a squishy fun water bubble. Then they come out, and there's pain, and light, and cold. I'd whine too.
Could be colic, or it could just be his way. They don't know how to communicate with you. He could be telling you anything with this whining. Even that he wants to touch that curtain hanging over there, and can't.
I know how frustrating it can be. With my first, and even with my second one, there were times I felt like I was going to go insane. All day, everyday, crying with no solution to make it stop.
Each baby is different. Some are happy, bubbly, smiley little creatures. And some are miserable, grumpy, and pitiful. Just try all that you can, but realize you're not expected to work miracles.
I hope this was helpful.

It could be normal. If he is high needs then it is completely normal. My daughter had to have me 100% of the time till she was about 6 months old.

It's frustrating at times especially when you don't have a support system and everyone thinks you're spoiling your LO. My LO has her good days and her bad days. Especially now when she wants to be mobile.
