Cosleeping

posted 4th Aug '12
I myself am not a cosleeper...but I support those family that make the commitment. That being said...how old is too old to cosleep? My step-brother is 12 (maybe 11?)...and still sleeps with my step-mom. To me this seems...weird. I don't think there is anything inappropriate going on....but it just gives me the willies.

I'd say about 5 or 6. My son moves too much and I'm a light sleeper.

I slept with my mom til I was 8 at least, I think it was closer to 10 because then I lived in a different state and had no choice but to sleep in my own bed.
I co sleep with both my babies, 3 months and 3 years, we're trying to get the 3 year old out of our bed only because I always wake up with his feet in my back lol and I always get scared that he's gonna somehow make his way to the other side of me and hurt the baby but it's harder than I thought lol

Whenever the kid/mom/parent gets uncomfortable. I don't think there is a set age.

It depends on the situation. I started sleeping in bed with my mom after I broke my neck in a car accident when I was 17. I was scared to be alone. It really just depends on what is going on in the childs life. I hope my child will be in her own bed in about a year. She's 5 months now.

Whatever works. *shrug* As long as neither of them feel weird about it that's all that matters.

My daughter and I co-slept until she's turned 3 and she decided she was ready for her big girl bed. I wouldn't have minded her sleeping with me longer though. I didn't really have an age limit, just when she was ready.

So where's your dad while they are co-sleeping? You just mentioned that it's the mom and son.

I don't exactly cosleep. My kid's fall asleep in my bed while the hubby and I watch a show, we move them. Sometimes they wake up in the middle of their night and come back to my bed, and I let them. Sometimes they stay in their own bed. I think 12 is too old for that kind of sleeping arrangement though. My MIL has an adopted son who is now 9. He still sleeps in bed with her. I don't think that's okay all the time, just for dependency's sake, for me. But I wouldn't judge anyone if they do it for that long.

My mom and I slept on the couch and my dad slept in his/their bed, so maybe its something like that?
