re: Is it strange of me ... (religious question)

With a bit of guidance and questioning a few Christian's from work, I came to the conclusion that at this time I am not ready to have a relationship with a God that would let Ghandi burnt solely for the crime of being Hindi.

I can't say for sure if Ghandi is in hell or not. But even if he was a good person, he was certainly not perfect or without sin. He needs a saviour just like anyone else. No one is sinless.

He was Hindi he had a savior of his own religion ... why would he have had to accept Jesus when he was true to his own beliefs?

Because religion doesn't save a person, Christ alone does.

hey, I'm also a spiritual pagan, most of my beliefs are pantheistic.. meaning that my view of God is that It encompasses every living and scientific process. I feel the Universe is alive as a whole, not necessarily some entity judging us or loving us for that matter... it just Is. On top of that I feel that all living creatures are connected through this source in some way yet unexplainable by our view of what modern day science is. I think we still have much evolving and understanding to deal with as a species.
With that being said I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. We are all connected in this life, and as misguided and unfortunate some people are and with the way our society choses to live, it is hard to remember that we are all One.
Perhaps what you feel you are lacking is kinship and not necessarily faith. Let the world and all that is in it be your friend. Lay in the grass and watch the stars, light a candle and gaze at your inner self, take a walk in the woods and listen to the life that surrounds us. No one is ever alone. Make the connections you seek. Good luck!

I'm a little late putting my two cents into this discussion, but I am Christian and working on rebuilding my own relationship with God right now. And basically the way the pastor at my church has put it is this: God loves you. Unconditionally. Just as you are. No matter what. We are all sinners. We are born into sin. And in the old testament, we were supposed to sacrifice animals at the alter to pay for our sins. And it seemed a bit hypocritical for God to say that he loves you unconditionally, but you're all sinners and going to hell because you forgot to sacrifice a goat. And that is why he sent his son to die for our sins. We're going to sin. We're human. And God let us have that choice as humans. Which is why he sent his son to wash away those sins for ALL of us. Not just for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. For all of us. And I have to believe that ANY sort of religion that keeps you on the path of righteousness and motivates you to lead a good life and treat people well will get you into paradise in the afterlife. Just because God takes many forms doesn't mean they're not upholding the same values that Christians are. So I personally don't think God let Ghandi burn in hell just for being Hindi. And I'm sure there are Christians who don't agree with this view, but this is my version of Christianity and this is how I view my God that I am building my relationship with. The bible teaches us to accept all people, so why would our God not do the same?

I really don't believe there is anything to be saved from. There really is nowhere where God is not. Ultimately I believe that Christ is not actually a person but rather a higher state of consciouness that Jesus carried but it is also within all of us and I believe there are even higher states than the Christ consciouness because there is no end to infinity.

How can anyone with any amount of assurance declare that Ghandi is in hell? People act like it is a fact... Argh!!!

Reminds me of this:

"Yes I am, I am also a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, and a Jew." -Ghandi When asked if he was a Hindu.

So do you believe in astral planes? I find them to be a highly fascinating proposition.

I believe Astral planes are the next levels just beyond the earth and have physical like characteristics but are far more beautiful than the earth but there are endless planes or levels that can be achieved because we have no limits as children of God just like God knows no limits.

I LOVE this video. Where is the "love" button? This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say. God isn't this horrible creature that Jesus has to save us from. Why would we want to worship that? The idea is that God loves us unconditionally. No matter what. Thank you for posting that.

No problem! I love the book. My husband read it to me. It gave me a whole new perspective.
