Overnight Stays at Grandparents

When your parents or in-laws ask to take the kids overnight what do you send them with? Just clothes or do you pack food as well?

Only clothes, favorite sleeping item (blanket for my son and princess pillow for my daughter), and toothbrush and toothpaste.

Brandt started staying at my parents around 5 months. At the time he was just having formula but now that he eats food I also send his food with. Basically because my mom likes to feed him and I don't want her giving him crap. I also send a change of clothes, diapers, bottles, blanket, baby Tylenol because he's teething and may need it to sleep well. I also send some toys because they wouldn't have baby toys. They have a pack-n-play so i dont worry about that. I think it kind of depends on the age of your baby what you would pack. But basically anything they would need at home.

I dont send anything with him. My mom usually takes whatever he needs and has everything. But with my dad, I do clothes, toothbrush and whatever else he wants.

Usually nothing. He has a toothbrush/tooth paste, clothes, and diapers at my moms and SOs moms house.

Thanks everyone, I was asking because well my parents just need the clothes/toiletries, they are always prepared with food, toys entertainment etc.

My MIL though who has been asking to take them more often since I'm about to pop, and I am really appreciative of course, seems to think I should pack up all their food too. Mind you they are 2.5 and 4.5 years old and can be picky, but the last time she took them she asked for a list of foods they eat for meals and snacks and they went shopping together.

Soooo this morning she calls me up and asks if she can take the kids for the day and night. My SO even agrees to drive them out there. Well we are running low on groceries and today we were going to go stock up. But she wanted them out there soon so I just sent them with their suitcase and a small bag of snacks. She ends up calling to see if they left and I told her yes about 10 minutes ago, but then I mentioned that I didn't really have anything much to send them with as far as food and milk. So she complained that now she has to go grocery shopping with the kids. I feel a little guilty about it but now I'm just like, no you can be prepared if you want to keep taking my children. I know she's doing it to help out, but she always offers, we never ask her too. This is the 3rd time she has taken them overnight in the last 2 weeks. I guess I could have let her know beforehand that we had nothing here to give her, but geez.

my MIL just called again and apologized   She said sorry she reacted that way she' just had a rough couple days (going thru a separation). I feel better now, she told me not to even worry about it.
So I'm doing the kid-free labour dust dance! Come out baby!
