Cycle day 50 NO af (questions!?)

Does this sound odd or about right?

My last af was June 14 the one before that was May 5. I was off BC last week of January. I have gotten negative urine so I went to the dr today(not my original dr) and she said she could give me a pill to make my period come. She didn't even feel, push down on my lower tummy (uterus area) or offer a pap. Then she said that she wanted to run blood tests to check my pituitary gland (to make sure I don't have a tumor on it causing irregular periods), then to check my thyroid, check for pcos, then I said well while your at it can we do a blood quant test. She said yes then said well we will just wait until your test results come back to start you on the pill to start your period. She then started talking to me about the mirena and I told her it wasn't my plan I would rather stick to pills. So then she said not having a period the lining could build up and eventually cause cancer or a cancerous cell. I looked online and it says if you have not had a period for 3 cycles in a row to see the dr. My original intentions were to get a pregnancy blood test not to hear the word tumor and cancer in one day! Does it sound like she just wanted to hurry and get me out of the office or should I continue on with all of the blood tests she wants to perform?

They did all those Tests when I missed my period for 3 months. Then I went on a progesterone pill for 4 months to get my cycles regular again. They became more regular but still my normal cycle was 35-40 days.

For having a long cycle like that, I can see why she wants to run tests, Im sure she didn't mean to scare you she was kind of giving a worse case scenario.
However having a no periods, or long/irregular cycles can be a sign of other problems, like Thyroid or PCOS, so if I were you I would get the blood work done, just my opinion though.

My cycles are usually 38-45 days and I have only had 1 cycle that was 45 days =/ they all last 4-5 days it's getting it to come lol!

I think she just wants to get to the bottom of what's causing your cycle to be so late. Those scary things she mentioned are super rare! But as your doctor she's got to rule them out. There are other, much less scary and way more common causes for your cycle to be late.

I know how nerve wracking it all is though! I had a polypectomy yesterday and my doctor was like, "Oh and I'll have the pathology report for your follow up in two weeks."

Pathology report? I just thought we were removing a 3mm polyp. I didn't know the pathology of it was even in question.   So now I'm all worried about it.

Man the things we go through lol!! WOW   Then she asked if it was hard for me to conceive my son. I told her no and my cycles didn't start getting crazy until after I had him. She just responded with "Ahh I see" It just irritates me that she didn't even push on my tummy or anything =/ what if it's a cyst?? She didn't even mention that though. Then when I told her " i feel so bloated and uncomfortable from time to time" she said "well yeah because you haven't had your period" REALLY!!??? WOW! =/

Pushing on your tummy wouldnt tell her if you had a cyst though, only an ultrasound would do that, plus none of my cysts have ever caused a bloated feeling, they hurt when they burst though, like bad period cramps hurt.

Honestly if your really unhappy with the way she was at the appointment you can seek a second opinion. There's nothing wrong with that at all!

Yeah that's what I will be doing on Monday   I just figured I would ask you ladies until I can get another apt

My dr did an exam to check my cyst. He did an u/s first and then I had a follow up appt and he checked to make sure it was gone by feeli from the inside and outside at one time. But that doesn't get you any accuracy with how big it is either. So it's better to get an u/s.


Op- it really sounds like she's doing thugs standard. I know you want more done right away but drs try to do the least invasive and least expensive procedures first to rule out the simple things first. It's not that she doesn't care. She's just probably trying not to put a financial burden on you unecessarily. Some insurances don't have good coverage for various procedures. It sounds like she's doing what my dr did when I had the same problems. Just be patient. Did you Hve to schedule a follow up appt or anything?

I don't because i'm going to make an apt with a gyn. My nipples are so so so tender and I would hate to be pregnant taking a pill to make my period come. I i wll test again monday and if it's negative then I will call my gyn to see if they can get me in soon.

Oh you were at a gen practice?! Definitely go to your gyn. It usually takes me months to get in when it's not OB and because of not having a proof so long they got me in the week I called.

A gyn is gonna do a lot more for you.

That's what she was to me but they said they put me with the ob but honestly she didn't seem like much help at all! =/ I will call on Monday and then see what they say.

Thanks.. I just need an answer to make sure it's nothing serious. =/ If it is that way I can get it taken care of before it's to late. The Pituitary tumor is a scary thought. I just don't understand why my boobs have been killing me (more my nipples) I guess anything is possible even if I didn't ovulate that month like she's thinking? It's just confusing lol!
