Children don't need cell phones, I wasn't allowed to have one until I got a job and could pay for it myself! Cell phones are a great way to teach responcibility when kids are old enough to get a JOB. There is no reason for anyone under the age of a high schooler to have a cell phone.
As for your MIL, if her 13 yo has multiple sex partners then she needs to learn how to be a mother before she goes judging you. I also believe that giving a child a cell before they are old enough to know how to be responcible is just feeding the teenage sex population.
Does your hubby know about this conversation???

Jeeze i know how you feel, my future MIL wouldnt say THAT but she does give me hints that she thinks i was a whore lol even though im not. lol i hate MILs

I say consider the source and know that it is not worth your time, energy, or sanity to worry about this. I know what it is like to have a MIL disagree with how or what you do with your child. Although she is entitled to her opinion (no matter how whacked it may seem) you and your partner has the final say. Enjoy your baby and raise her with your instincts. You are with your child 24/7 and you know whats best for her ! Good Luck

I didn't have a cell phone until 9th grade and I made out just fine.Before that age, there is no need for one. I mean, what do they need it for? They want to talk to their friends? There's a house phone. lol. And no, he doesn't know about this conversation. He doesn't like to hear anything negative about his precious mommy. It always causes a fight.

With my husband, to avoid fights- i get him to make up his mind about an issue and then when MIL states her ideas he already has his mind made up about the issue and will dissagree with her... You could tell your husband that a person u know wanted the baby to have a cell phone and discuss the idea and then if his MIL mentions it again, perhaps he will tell her no......

He does disagree with her, but rarely. He's always making excuses for her.

Oh so you have a Momma's Boy too? At least I'm not the only one. I will never forget the day she called my phone and he answered and she didn't realize it was him and started bitching. And when he said something to her she yelled at him for answering my phone. That was the one and only time he has ever been on my side rather than hers. I am so sick of her having his jewels in a dixie cup. I feel so alone sometimes.

haha, I was watching Divorce Court yesterday and the couple was getting a divorce because of how big of a mamma's boy the husband was. The wife said one time he was at the doctors with his mom and dad and they mistook the son for the husband!!! Ew. At least it isnt that bad!!
