Exclusively pumping

posted 3rd Aug '12
If you've had to go from using a hospital grade pump, to one that was NOT hospital grade, did your supply go down?
Even though I get plenty now, I have to return the hospital grade pump tomorrow, and I'll have to use one that isn't while I'm at home. I'm worried about my supply going down, especially after my babies come home, because they might not be able to nurse efficiently and I'll probably still be depending on a pump for a while.

My pump is hospital grade, and I still can't get enough to feed my daughter.

I'm sorry. I had that issue with my daughter, I think that might be why I'm so worried this time.

Thank you  .
The hospital grade pump actually hurts, so I now I'm looking forward to the other one, lol.

I ended up getting a hospital grade pump. They are beyond expensive but the NICU will provide you with a perscription for one and some insurances cover 40 percent of the price. It's still expensive though. You can also rent them for around $60 per month (still cheaper than formula) and buy your own pump kit ($40). I had a very hard time with my supply. I'm still taking domperidone but thankfully, my daughter now drinks from the breast. She was 10 weeks premature.

This issue will automatically get solve after few days as you and your babies will be at home and your babies will start sucking from the breast on their own soon.
