Increase Y chrom sperm?

DH and I are going to begin TTC in 2 months. I have 1 boy (m DSS) and three girls. We really want to have a boy. Yes, we will be pleased with whatever we get, but it doesn't hurt to try.

We will be doing Shettles Method and monitoring my pH. However, it seems odd to me that all the focus on attempting to control gender is on women.

MEN control the gender (MY husband actually didn't know this). So why is there no research on what men can do to increase the odds?

Perhaps you all know sorting I don't? I googled and all I could find was how men could increase their ejaculate so they could be über cool.

my dh and I argue about this all the time. I agree with what you are saying but he thinks that the woman actually decides gender because of how the egg developes and some kind of hormone the let off or something. I really wish he was home so I could explain his reasoning and prove my point. lol but he made me watch something on it and it made sense but i just believe the men control it.

It's a fact that the sperm determines the sex of the child.

I think I read somewhere that his body temperature affects the sperm as well. A raised body temperature affects both x and y sperm, however, y sperm tend to be more sensitive to the heat and degrade quicker than the x sperm. That's about all I know.... sorry. lol

Well I know that the sperm determines the sex (m or f) but timing has a lot to do with it.

I don't know when to do it if your trying for a girl or boy though, you'd have to look that up! Sorry I'm no help!

Man, I'd love if someone discovered something men could do. I'm starting to think the men in DH's literally cannot produce females. We've got boy #2 coming. all of his cousin's have boys, all of his cousins who aren't related through their mother are boys, and his father is one of five and only one of them is female.

And the Woman determines the environment, Pretty much a hospitable environment with an egg waiting there could result in a boy, An acidic environment where the sperm have to wait for the egg could result in a girl because girl sperm can survive longer.

When my parents were trying for me(the wanted a girl and explaining this might creep me out) but the method was that if you want a girl you wait 3 days before ovulation to have sex since the X lives longer. Not sure if that's 100% true but that's what I've been told. But to get a boy you need to have sex closer to ovulation. I know it also has to do with body temp but I need to reread on that to be sure.

I guess it worked for my parents though. I have 2 older brothers lol If I ever have another child I'm trying for a girl so I can have one boy and one girl but I honestly think one is enough for me.

If your husband was in the Navy, I'd tell him to get transferred to an aircraft carrier and work on the radar team. lol. On my husbands ship, all the men who worked radar only had girls.

Sperm determines the sex of the child but the woman's body has a lot to do w/ gender as well. X sperm prefer a more acidic environment (vagina) & Y prefer it more alkaline. So, the woman's diet comes into play a lot. Timing is also a big factor as well

This is a good point. It seems that male sperm is more delicate than female, so if dh does things/is exposed to things that damage his sperm, the males die first. So there are things to avoid to increase your chances of a boy, like the hot tub, carrying his phone on his hip/in his pocket... Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? There's a short section in there on the topic. But I'm not aware of anything he can actively do to produce extra y chromosomes.

Would a lot of red meat cause more of an alkaline environment? I always ate too much red meat
