Enviro friendly detergent??

posted 2nd Aug '12
So I recently bought CrunchyClean online and it smelled wonderful once you opened the bag, I got Monkey Fart. I finally used it yesterday for the first time on my Bf's work clothes. He's a Welder and his clothes get REALLY REALLY dirty like mechanics dirty. I put three scoops which is three tablespoons just to make sure it would work and I gave his clothes a pre rinse before the actual wash. When the clothes came out they still look dingy and they smelled clean but the other half still like his job which I can't stand   ...Did I do something wrong? I was thinking of using vinegar as a rinse for the clothes combined. Is there another green detergent that works great for really grimy men?? I would love some advice I dream of one day they actually LOOK clean not so concerned about the smell. Oh yeah, we have hard water so I bought the hard water type.

My so is a welder / tractor mechanic as well and I use arm and hammer with baking soda. I also put vinegar in with his clothing to get the smell out.. They look pretty good when I do this. I use this.... B.c my sons skin is so sensitive.

Instead, would it be okay to make my own laundry detergent since it has washing soda in it already? would it work the same? I was thinking I could do that so that it would be cheaper and also natural (sensitive).
