Was this a normal way for my mum to act?

posted 2nd Aug '12
I was talking to my mum a few months ago and somehow the topic of bullying came up and she asked me if I was bullied and I said "yes" and she said "by who? boys or girls"? I said "both" ( I don't know why I said both,as a matter of fact it was just boys who used to bully me , I guess it just slipped out) Then she didn't say anything after that, never has, I guess I wanted her to say sorry that she didn't know as all I wanted was someone to stand up for me. What would you do if your child told you that information even if it was in the past ..

What do you expect her to do?

Yeah being bullied sucks. I was bullied all throughout school.

But if you didn't say anything back then, what do you expect her to do now?

Then how can she apologize for it.

Or do you mean more of an.. I'm sorry that happened to you kind of thing?

she probley didn't, but she treated me bad so my confidence was low and it couldn't have suprised her when I told her a few months ago.. this happened when I was a kid, I'm grown now.

She couldnt really look out for you if you never told her in the first place. It sucks to be bullied, I was as a kid, but you cant expect her to be psychic and just assume that you were being bullied.

Why should she apologize if you never told her anything?

I mean, if you told her when it was happening and she didn't do anything, that would be different. But why should she apologize if she didn't know?

I'm sure she doesn't realize how terrible the bullying was for you. I can understand you wanting a "sorry that happened to you" kind of thing.

yep
I'm sorry but this has to be said, if god forbid my son turned round and told me what I told my mum I would think I failed as a mother. That's just my opinion.
