Home from my gallbladder surgery

Pain is less than I was expecting. Hope it stays easy. I know it will be worse tomorrow, but I am getting around good right now and burping all the excess gas out seemingly pretty quickly.

So glad it is over. I got delayed a LOT, already had a late surgery time, and ended up with no food or drink in my stomach for 24 hours. I went straight to sonic for a cherry limeade when I got out of the hospital  

it does get easier. i had little to no pain at all after my surgery.

My pain is very minimal right now, but I had two doses of fentanyl and then they had to switch to dilaudid (sp) because apparently fentanyl doesn't work for me lol.

So idk how quick that all wears off, but I will have a better idea after that is all out of my system and I am just taking my vicodin.

Mine was pretty easy. Not much pain after having it done. Hope it goes that way for you also. Its a lot less painfull than the attacks I would get from the gall stones.

So far, thats the case for me too, except unlike the gallbladder pain, this pain gets worse with moving around and changing positions.

I'm only like 3.5 hours out of surgery though lol.

How did you all know you had to have your gallbladder removed? what were your symptoms? i'm just wondering because i think i might be having early symptoms of it and kind of worried about it, but i don't want to wait til the last minute to get it taken care of.. but i'm also nervous that it's something with my gallbladder.

i never had any symptoms. i just had an attack one night, i didnt know what was going on. i went to ER at 5 in the morning and was having emergency surgery at 4 the same afternoon. also i was 3 weeks postpartum

Yeah I definitely need them at this point.

Just woke up in pain from the couch where I apparently fell asleep. I took a vicodin and waiting for it to kick in.

It's not horrible pain, but it's bad enough I had to wake up SO and ask him to get me a bottle of water because I couldn't pull open the fridge and bend over to get it lol.

I had bad attacks. My pain was more in the middle, behind my breast bone and it only happened every once in a while, but it was debilitatingly painful. I thought it was severe heartburn for a couple years. I've had it since I was like 4 weeks PP with my 3 and a half year old. Recently it has gotten worse. I get the attacks like 1-2 times a week, to the point I can't care for my kids. I have diarrhea a lot, then constipation the rest of the time. I bloat after I eat. MY stomach would "burn".

Lots of stomach symptoms, but the tell tale sign is the attacks.

Thanks ! yesterday i started getting this dull achey feeling after i have a lot of caffeine and it's on the left side in the middle of my abdomen. and i also have been getting what feels like a muscle spasm or something pulsing on my right side right near my rib cage. the muscle spasm isn't painful, but the dull ache that i experienced yesterday was a little painful, i guess just more of an annoyance. i think i'm going to go to my doctor and see if she can tell what it's from.

The ache on the left wouldn't normally be gallbladder. Gallbladder is on the right side, but the pain can refer to the middle.

The pulsating you are feeling on the right is probably your gallbladder contracting, but I would say it could be normal to feel that, as long as it doesn't hurt.

The "attacks" I would get were completely debilitating. Like the pain/nausea was so bad I'd have to go lay in the bathroom floor or the bathtub. Last attack I had a week or so ago I had got in the bathtub and puked down the drain like 4 times. That's disgusting but I was in so much pain I couldn't get out of the tub to get to the toilet.

That was me almost. Only, I had my first attack a few years before in 2007 while I was pregnant with my first and just let it go. After I had my twins in 2009, 3 weeks after I had another attack and went in. They wanted to do emergency removal right then on me but I refused and waited a few days to get a good supply of breastmilk for my girls since I was ebfing.

that is exactly where my pain was.
