getting induced

ok so my due date is a week after school starts and i really dont want to be out of school for too long and get too far behind from everyone else... should i askk my doctor about getting induced when i make it to 37 weeks if i make it to 37 weeks? ADVICE IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Also i want my fiancee to be there with me for labor and birth so that he doesnt miss out at all. he also starts the week before my due date!!! help please share advice.

No. Inductions are hard on the mom and hard on the baby, especially when they're not medically necessary.

Unfortunately, no doctor will induce before 39w without a good reason. Your reason doesn't qualify as a good one.

Most doctors that will do elective inductions will not do them before 39 weeks. The longer that kiddo bakes, the better. 37 weeks is still a little early when you're talking lung maturation.

I would hope that the health of your baby is more important than missing a couple weeks of school. If you are determined enough you can make them up in no time.

I went back to school the next day school day after having my last.. you don't really have to miss any time... I had her thursday and the next school day was monday because we don't have class fridays.. I missed only an hour that monday.

i had a repeat csection so i had my son at 39 weeks, he ended up in the nicu, scariest moment of my life... do not try to have your child before they are ready. going through the experience i did i don't think i would ever elect to have an induction ever again (but i got my tubes tied so no more babies for me.)
