I knew Canada did, but nvr heard of Australia did. But dang hope you can find some other cheaper coverage. Because paying for prenatal care, labor & delivery is gonna be a small fortune.

I think your best bet would be to try to find some different insurance that will cover something. I looked at some quotes and depending on any complications and if you have a vaginal delivery or c-section it looks like it could range anywhere from $6,000 to $18,000.

The reason we have private in the first place is because i need to have opps and stuff all the time, its just the cheaper way to do things. And i just thought that since we got health cover together (in dec) it ment that obstetrics and stuff would be covered under it.

You can skimp in some places. You really don't need to be seen regularly up until the 3rd trimester, and even then, you really don't need to go in as much as they say you do. UNLESS YOU FEEL THERE IS A PROBLEM! Then def go in. When in labor, labor at home as long as you can, that way you are in the hospital less time= less money. Don't get induced. Research it...there are hardly any medical reasons for this...my doctor had me have one for gestational diabetes and I regret it everyday...there is no reason until it's completely a medical necessity for the baby's sake...no because you are tired of being pregnant (before 2 weeks overdue) --> this also is less $ for thedrugs to induce and the extra night in the hospital...try toonly spend one night in the hospital!! Try not to have drugs or an epidural...

Keep in mind, I am trying to do all these things too!!We have insurancethough my guys work, and they just stopped benefitting their employees so our insurance bill is $1000 a month for the3 of us!! We are going to have to cancel it or find a cheaper source...but who will take be as I am already prego?? It's scary, and we do not qualify for anygov aid...

Good luck!!

manda if u have to have a c section for medical reasons u dont have to pay for it, it should be overed by ur insurance, and try medicare if u dont already have it, they covered my pregnancy, and if you have a health care card it should help with the costs as well, but i think if u need scans for medical reasons as well they dont cost anything i had to have a 3rd scan and it didnt cost me anything

they will def. cover all costs if you go public but if you continue to go private then you have to pay and I know that a cesar is at least $7000...just for the op... go public you may not get the best room but I am sre the doctors are just as good....I went private with Molly for half the pregnancy (the private hopspital closed down halfway through so we switched to public) and I am sooooo glad we went public because she was breech and I needed a cesar... pity about the baby bonus being changed in January that could have really helped you...if you have any more questions feel free to ask I am in Adelaide by the way...
