we have joint custody and the court set the visitation to be up to what we agreed on. we agreed on he would take him every other weekend and every other holiday and he would get him on 4day weekends (he's military) But if he asked to see him I would let him see him. Now since I have to work on Sunday's he takes him every other weekend for the full weekend and on my weekend takes him while I am at work. So it is pretty much up to what you agree on or you can get the judge to put it in writing and follow that. Depends on how civil you guys can be with each other. Good luck hun!

Thanks. It's just tough to imagine splitting up time... And I hate that we're not going to be a family. I know children survive this lol I know I did. But it is soooo hard to break up with kids involved!

My ex moved to Maine, and I live in Ohio, so he gets her summer break, winter break, and spring break, and I get her during the school year. It really sucks. This has been a hard summer without her, but she comes home in 2.5 weeks!

Yeah it is really tough with kids involved :/ I'm sorry mama but things will get better, it will definitely take some time though.

Thanks Hun. I just hope this is the right thing. But we've tried making it work and it never changes. I'm unhappy and it's going to affect our son, if it hasn't already.

my brother and ex SIL have it to where my brother takes my niece everyother weekend and they do half day holidays just depending on who has her that weekend and my ex SIL is a bitch that would rather get drunk on holidays rather then spend time with her daughter so usually is she has her in the mornings she'll drop her off with my brother in the morning, but if my brother has her in the morning then he'll drop her off in the evening. I am glad to finally see a strong women that knows whats right and isn't staying with the daddy just because he's the daddy lol good luck and hope everything works out for ya

Lol thanks. And yeah, I don't want to stay with him for all the wrong reasons. It wouldn't be fair to any of us.

My ex & I have 50/50 custody and what was put in the papers as 50/50 placement but it's more like 75/25 placement.

This is our schedule (it's easier to see like this vs. just writing it out)
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj222/mtvkillsbraincells/newschedule-2.jpg

I also carry insurance for Rowan, and she goes to school in my school zone. I also bring her to the doctors, sign her up for school, etc but that's mainly because my ex is lazy. We switch years for claiming on taxes and things like clothes are bought for our home only so we're not fighting over the other having all the clothes, etc.

We allow each other to take Rowan longer on weekends that aren't our own if something comes up or to switch weekends when need be. Flexibility is key, IMO. There will be rough patches but with time it'll be a lot easier. Not very special holidays it's basically whoever has her sorta thing but big ones (like her birthday, Christmas, Easter we switch. One usually has her on Christmas Eve, the other on Christmas Day and on Easter/birthday, we split the day. We each get her on our birthdays and mothers/father's day.)

We don't have an agreement through the courts-- we've been trying to work through it ourselves (sometimes easier said than done)....

But our agreement is he has her every other weekend from 6PM on Friday to 6PM on Sunday (ish). The holidays... we're still trying to sort out. Last year he had her for Thanksgiving, I had her Christmas even and Christmas morning, he had her Christmas afternoon and New Years eve. On Easter (which also happened to be her birthday) we split the weekend, he had her Friday night, I had her Saturday night.
