They Called the Police on my Three-Year-Old
posted 1st Aug '12
My son and I were at my SO's place tonight. We played in the yard, they played catch and raced monster trucks, read books, yadda yadda. My son had a total blast. My SO does not have AC, so it was pretty hot and my son was getting tired. Decided we should pack up and get going. Well my son decided to throw the BIGGEST fit he has ever thrown. Screaming at the top of his lungs, smacking me in the face; just totally chaotic. So we did our best and got him calmed down enough that he was smiling and joking again. Joked about how with all of that screaming the police would probably show up. Got him strapped into the carseat and were saying our goodbyes when low and behold, two squad cars come speeding up the street. My SO flagged them down and they asked if we knew anything about a little girl screaming, haha. I pointed out that it was just my overly worn out toddler. My son even told them that he hit me, and the officer told him that wasn't very nice. They saw that my son was obviously unharmed, laughed a little with us, and then left.
I felt sooo embarrassed! But it was nice to know that the neighbors were concerned enough about things like that, and that the police showed up quickly for such a call. Definitely putting this one down in his baby book!
