Depends who you ask. After doing my own research I believe it decreases the risk.

NO.

if that were the case, they would have an answer for SIDS. nobody knows what causes SIDS. actually, if done properly, research proves it to be safer than non-co-sleeping.

I think doctors used to say it decreased the risk as well (not 100% sure) but they have changed their minds ...

From the newer studies I've read when done safely it decreases the risk.

I feel like cosleeping with my baby is much safer. He mimics my breathing and I know he's okay.

Iv heard it was better for the baby when it comes to SIDS but they say its dangerous in other ways because the baby could be smothered by you, blankets, pillows the baby could get stuck between the wall n bed but everyone i know that sleeps with thier baby is perfectly fine

i always thought sids was actually central apnea...and it wasn't caught at an earlier time. and some babies are basically born to die and there isn't anything that can be done to prevent it.unless docs find out they have central apnea.. thats my opinion. and i always thought breastfeeding and co-sleeping go pretty well together. =) happy full baby, nice well rested mama

No, it increases the risk of you smooshing them in your sleep which = suffocation. It doesn't increase the risk of SIDS. It's believed to lower it.

But when co sleeping babies hear the sound of the mom breathing and it reminds them to breath   so less babies die while cosleeping
according to this link. I used this when trying to decide what was best for me and my lo
