Rice Cereal- In bottle? [18 1/2 weeks old]
posted 1st Aug '12
Just wanted a few opinions/advice...
A friend of mine started mixing a bit of Rice Cereal in her sons formula at night time to help him sleep longer, and said something about it helping reduce stomach acid...
Anyways, My son is almost 19 weeks old, I was wondering if it is a good time to start doing so? I'm not sure if it's good or not to feed a bit through a bottle, or should I just mix it in a small bowl and attempt introducing him to spoon?
Thank you

Never in a bottle unless its for AR and the doctor tells you too.
Solids can be started any time between 4-6 months. 6 months being the AAP recommended age.

never put solids in a bottle unless it is very medically necessary.

My dr told me NEVER give this to my LO. His Dr told me this at every visit with out me even asking about it
The body does not make the enzymes to break it down until a different time for each baby some are 4-6 months... some latter
is your LO showing interest in solids now? If so I would 1st try with a prune because it is so high in fiber. If your LO has not trouble with this, no fussiness trying to digest and pass then maybe your LO is ready and has the enzymes to digest.
If your LO seams to have problems then give it another month and try again.
I did not give my LO anything besides breast milk until 8 months and he is very healthy
