I used a breastpump (still do) they are pretty good especially if you want to store extra milk. I don't think it messes with your supply ... if anything using my pump in between feeds helped me boost my supply.

I think you should try and relax and enjoy this time and just work on your breastfeeding. Soon the baby will not eat so often. You will get your babys schedule better. If you are still uncomfortable get a covet and go someplace privet... like your car in the nice AC.

In in a few more weeks you still feel you need a pump then I would look into renting them becuase they are very expensive for a good one. The cheap ones take a lot.

The human baby is meant to use the breast do what you can to keep it that way as long as you can. It might mean you have to give up some things you like to do for a while.

That is my adivise

You have some time... just give it time the baby will need the breast less very soon

It sounds like your midwife didn't understand what you meant. There's no problem with pumping your milk out. It could cause some confusion with breast feeding but if that does happen you could just continue to express. Doesn't matter if it's from the cow or the bottle, breast milk will still give him the start he needs.

I tried pumping so that I could give him a bottle when I was out. unfortunately he had nipple confusion and had trouble latching on after that so he only gets it from the tap now. I did try to give him a bottle the other day but he wouldn't take it and took my boob straight away, so guess he just prefers it fresh.
As long as they're having breast milk your giving them the best start possible. Just make sure that you don't skip feeds, every time he has a bottle you need to express a bottle to replace it, so your body still produces enough milk.
