Do you view someone differently?

posted 1st Aug '12
If they have vastly different political views as opposed to you?

I constantly see people on most social networking sites saying "If you're a liberal, don't bother talking to me" or "if you a conservative republican, I probably hate you". Just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Honestly... yeah. Because their personality alone is just so different. I don't usually get along with Republicans. Most, not all (so that I don't offend anyone), have this sense of superiority. I dunno why.

No. I generally dont give a smurf about politics but I do have my opinions and someone having different opinions than me isnt going to make me dislike them. The only way that will happen is if the person is pushy with their opinion or thinks that their opinion is fact.

Only if their political believes are against women getting to choose what they do with their own body, or if they're against legalizing gay marriage. Those are just things I don't think anyone should be able to have a say in b/c it won't affect them personally.

Nope. I don't care about politics or religion when it comes to people. If you're an awesome person, you're awesome and I'll like you no matter what. If you're and smurf and I don't like you, I don't like you.

I don't ask, I refuse to talk politics with anyone aside from my Mom and Dad. It's one of the quickest ways to lose friends. To be honest, I've got friends that go from extremely left wing to extremely right wing, nobody really gives off a 'superior' attitude until they try to talk politics though. Only reason I know some of their leanings is because they blurt it out lol which is when I quickly change the subject.

Nah.
Not unless they're so obsessed they can't shut up about it.

Yes. I lose a lot of respect for someone if I find out they'reconservative.

If they are against gay marriage and reproductive rights for women, I automatically dislike them. I went on a date with one guy who admitted he was against gays getting married.

He didn't get a second date.

No, unless they are so narrow-minded that they won't see anyone else's point of view about anything.

That describes the majority of conservatives.

That's true but if someone is conservative I'm not going to automatically dislike them as a person. If they constantly bring up politics and won't shut up about how my beliefs are wrong, that's one thing. But if someone is conservative and we just agree to disagree(like my husband and I about abortion, for instance) then I won't have a problem with him/her.

I understand.

Is your husband for or against abortion?
