Yes you will need a DNA test. The military even requires it in many cases for married couples who have a child less then ten months into the marriage. The recruiter will not have a say in what happens or where it goes. They cant get it started. All they are really there for is to sign them up. If he is on the birth certificate or signed a affidavit of paterntiy the other mother can be getting medical through the military which she would need to sign for even without a child support order. You wont get far if anywhere till after his basics is over.

IMO the free health insurance and positivly on time child support payment is well worth the wait and the pain but I cant promise they may not make you pay for the DNA test yourself. They very well might require that because to them you arent their problem until the test comes back positive.
