I've made some pretty delish food in my day. Its sort of my creative outlet, now that I'm a SAHM.
But tonite was a total bomb. I made burgers (laila helped) and fries. The fries and burger buns were Great Value brand from Walmart. Although I eventually had my oven up to 500 frikkin degrees they came out pale and soggy and had that undercooked texture. They refused to crisp. The buns were really little and the outer layer like flaked off when I toasted them. The burger meat was delish- I actually crumbled goldfish crackers into it becuase i didnt have bread crumbs. Turned out good- i recommend it.

But as far as the meal being visually appealing.... NOPE. It looked horrible. Laila picked up a limp flacid french fry and was like "uggghhh" hahahahhahaha

Plus I made her patty too thick- I was a kid once I know they like the Mcdonalds look. What was i thinking?

Would you make your kid try a bite of dinner if you knew that it looked disgusting? Like, if you're a bad cook I suppose your kids wouldn't know the difference but usually I'm pretty proud of what i whip up. I let laila leave the table tonite because i knew it looked gross and i could see on her face she was like "ugh is she gonna force me to eat this?" and now she's waiting for a bowl of alphagetti at her little drawing table. I dunno, maybe some people would think thats a parental boo-boo but then there's also that saying "pick your battles"

I would never make Mason try something that I thought looked gross.

growing up I had a 2 bite rule. I HAD to take two bites. I will be doing the same.
So yeah I would have made her take a bite of the meat.
I never had problem with GV fries or buns.

well the burgers tasted great, they just looked like smurf. I knew she would probably just end up bawling and I would be like "EAT IT    " I just didn't really want to be the "bad cop" when thinking of me when i was little- I sure as smurf wouldn't have taken a bite hahahah.

I always pick battles lol.

I can't cook for crap, and LO isn't two yet, so she usually doesn't care and tries whatever. I can't really force eating now, but I don't think I will later.

I made spaghetti squash with pesto tonight. I made J try it but in the end we both threw it away. I ALWAYS make him try though. If he takes one bite and still doesn't want it I don't force it, but he must try it.

I was surprised because GV hash browns are awesome and always turn out better than the "higher end" brands. So we thought the fries would be good as well but for the second time they turned out gross. Maybe something is up with my oven  

I'm weird about food, I won't eat something if I think it looks weird, I can't expect my kid to.

But she's like a little garbage disposal. She'll eat anything.

my son loves veggies, and fruits. the kid practically hates meat.

LOL, oh man thats a can of worms I wouldn't want to open with my LO. She'd be like "I'll be passing around the donation bowl if you would like to see me try this food"
