Makeup for sensitive skin?

posted 31st Jul '12
I've stopped wearing eye shadow/liquid eyeliner for over a year now because it'd irritate my eyes so badly.. i only wear occasional pencil liner/mascara if I'm going out and want to look nice for a few hours & then wash it off before the mascara irritates me eyes.

The outer corners would get all itchy, my eyes would weep etc from the powders etc.

Has anyone had the same issue?

Which powders/eyeliner or makeup range helped you?

I have tried 'mineral' eyeshadows (my mum spent $300+ on a makeup set for me in mineral ones that are suppose to be for sensitive skin) but that irritated my eyes just as bad so i don't use it.

TIA!!

If you've tried mineral makeups.. There really isn't many other options. Have you tried aveda?

I've always been a cheap skate admittedly haha

Usually i'd just buy cover girl, l'oreal, maybelline etc.

I might have a chat to the girls at the MAC kiosk & ask them to match me or do a tester with a few colours etc on my eyes. If they get itchy etc within a couple of hours i'll know i can't wear it

Thanks!

I've only tried the one brand of mineral makeup that my mum bought.. i don't even know which brand it is to be honest.

I haven't tried Aveda but i'll google it & see if its available in Australia.

I LOVE makeup & its actually really depressing not being able to play around with colours/eyeshadows etc like before.

When i was 'single' and dating DH/newly married i'd just put up with the crazy itching etc and touch up the corners of my eyes 10x a day because i was so concerned about my appearance.. now its not worth it lol!

I do want to find something i can use to i feel 'pretty' again.

I <3 MAC make up. It works for me, I'm not as sensitive as you but I can't use cheap stuff. It is worth the money IMO. It lasts forever and feels great!

Not all mineral brands are made equal. In fact a lot of them have just has much bad stuff as liquids.

I use a brand called http://inika.com.au/
Its organic, vegan and amazing.

It's not cheap but you could find a place that sells it instore - Myer in perth does and test it out.

Maybe google common irritants in products and then choose a product without those ingredients.

I just had a look at their online shop.. i LOVE their colours for eyeshadow.

They have a few neutral shades that i was looking for specifically.

Thanks so much mama, i'll head into Myer to test it out etc

It's hard to know I used a brand with talcum in it. My
Skin was so bad.

Inika is so amazing I have tried other brands and it made
My skin so sore and break out. I now use all natural lush cosmetics plus lots
Of water and my skin is better than ever.

I hope it works for you!

Have you used their foundation as well?

Im contemplating buying some liquid foundation/powder to see if it'll clear my skin up..

Im sure the cover girl makeup is why my skin breaks out constantly.

When i take my makeup off it feels like it can breathe, so it can't be good LOL!

I use there foundation, is amazing.
Consider getting a face in a box because you get primer, and a brush and all the good stuff. It's a great deal only 99 dollars or something.

Ha I sound as though i'm a sales rep.

But it's great stuff but still because you have sensitive skin i'd go into myer and see if they have a counter to trial some of the products for 24 hours and then buy it because it's not cheap. I HIGHLY doubt it will hurt your skin.

It has some good reviews here;
