My back to school list
posted 31st Jul '12
This is all required by the school. I just think its a little much. When I went to kindergarden everything was provided.
Backpack
2 laminated folders
plastic crayon box
crayons (one pack of 8 large and 3 packs of 24)
pencils ( one large and 12 regular)
6 large glue sticks
scissors
four dry erase markers
tissues.

That is an extremely small list, for starters.
Second, with budget cuts and teacher's salaries diminishing, we can no longer afford to pay for it all ourselves.
That will cost you maybe $12-$15 total.

They never provided anything for me for any school I ever went to.
That seems like what I had to bring when I was in K.

That's nothing compared to here... My friend's son had to have 20 pencils, 4 boxes of crayons, 3 boxes of kleenex, 24 glue sticks, and a bunch of other random stuff

That is only about half of what I have to buy for my 1st grader......It cost me over $100 for his school supplies.

That's not much... When I went to school My parents always bought everything.

That isn't too outlandish compared to some lists I've seen. Schools don't have the budgets they used to. I wouldn't send all the crayons and pencils at once though...my sons teachers communicated with me when he needed stuff and he brought his supply box home every day so there was no need for me to send all that excess.

Just wait until they're in high school and you're required to buy a $150 calculator for algebra.

My 5th grader has a looooong list lol. Usually I don't pay too much because we either 1.) I have it lying around the house or 2.) I get it while it's on sale.
