that's nothing.

we had to provide backpack
shoes JUST for gym to stay at school
ziplock bags
hand sanitizer
tissues
glue sticks
elmers white glue
crayons
pencils
dry erase markers

I know there was more. Mine are in 2nd and 5th now.

FYI... you'll provide crayons/markers/colores pencils/glue/sissors every year. The sissors you can keep. Everything else they always want new.. and you don't get back.

You lucky; I was on private school all my life and my mom used to pay when i was on that grade roughly $2,500 for materials, books and uniform. without counting $250 a month for school

you really can't compare the two. In America.. we have a right to a free education.. and pay taxes for it. So.. it's not ridiculous for parents to then complain about what they are required to pay for supplies for that education.

choosing to send your child to a private school... completely different.

That's a joke. This year the HS my babysitter attends is requiring all the students to rent a laptop from them because they will be doing all their work on laptops.

If you literally cannot afford the supplies they cannot fail you on those grounds. They will find a way for the student to complete his work on a school or library computer.

And if that student's parents BOTH work full time and their only way to and from school is a bus (WHICH they also had to pay for a couple years ago, $50/month PER CHILD) then what? Unfortunately, the money just isn't there to help everyone the way they used to.

No, unfortunately our government does not offer much allowance to education. I have taken a student home before in my own car because his parents were both working and no one could pick him up. He had been suspended from the bus for fighting. All I can do is hope that there are enough teachers who care enough to take matters into their own hands, best they can.

sure.. but it effects it. I was national honors society, straight A student. but.. I always lost points for presentation in HS because we didn't have a home computer, and I rode the bus so it was near impossible to go to school before or after school and use the computer lab.

Did you tell the teacher? If she knew you didn't have a home computer and still docked points from you... she's an ass.

sure. but she didn't require it to be done on computer. But... it obviously wasn't as visually perfect as one done on the computer. A handwritten cover sheet is impossible to do as well as a computer.

That list seems reasonable. My son is 4 and goes to a private preschool & his list has a few more things than yours.
