Conceiving after removing MIRENA IUD???

posted 14th May
Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and here's my dilemma! I've had the Mirena IUD in place for one year and one month. I'm planning on removing it ASAP because my husband and I plan on trying for our second baby and hope to be pregnant by September. Somehow tonight I came across a forum about the IUD and women were saying the've been trying for months or over a year now to get pregnant after removing it, and this scares the hell out of me. We had enough of hard time conceiving my daughter. It took us over 4 years and 1 year of actively trying to conceive her. I really need to hear of other women who have had this IUD and were able to get pregnant right away or atleast shortly after removing it. I need some hope! I'm also going to try and see if my doctor will let me do the dye test again. I did this while in the infertility program trying to conceive my daughter, and I found out within two months that I was pregnant. I can only hope and pray it works again for me!!! Please share your stories and send me some prayers! Thank you ladies!

i had it removed and fell within 2 weeks, mind you i also fell first try with the other two.

i was told by the dr, that once removed you should be just as fertile as you were before you had it put in...

good luck

I have an IUD right now and I'm not sure if it actually messes up conceiving or not but my doctor said it shouldn't cause any chance of conceving...but i mean it did take you 4 years to conceive your daughter odds are this one might take some work too...

I dont think i want to have anymore children but I dont want to close that door yet. My doctor said that it is harder to return to fertility with Mirena and that he reccomends using Paraguard IUC instead because it has an instant return to fertility and it is hormone free. Good luck TTC

I just had mine removed and we are ttc again, it shouldn't cause a problem, I have never personally talked to anyone or read anything on here with someone having problems conceiving after having it removed.

I'm confused, do you think the dye test helped you get pregnant?

None of my dr's have said that to me, as a matter of fact, I thought the mirena was safer than the copper IUD, but I could be wrong.

My doc recommended paragard and told me that is one of the most popular forms of birth control in the world now, although it is just regaining popularity in the US, and that it is a wonderful form of birth control.. She also told me that they have had a huge increase of women getting it, and that it is the best form of BC for breastfeeding mothers. She said that the percentage of women that have problems with it is way less than any other form.

Yes I think the Dye test did help me get pregnant. The doctor told me after having that done your extremely fertile for about 2 months, or atleast your chances of conceiving go way up. I just hope that after this thing is removed and I get the Dye test done that I'll get pregnant. God I hope so!

I currently have the paragard IUD after my 2nd child and I love it! It has helped to lighten my MP, and reduce my worries. My Dr. told me that because of its non-hormone status that concieving afterwards depends on the woman, as well as the care. It depends on how you care for your body, like with any normal TTC. But more so with the IUD because it does create a more trying situation mostly because its a foreign object inside you. She did say that one your body adjust to its natural state after having it removed that fertility should be no problem. Unless you have had, or since developed fertility problems (in which case you may want to consult a dr. again like you had before). I wish you the best of Luck, and **Baby Dust**

I had my Mirena removed last July, had a period 2 days after it was removed and then concieved my son in August!!! I didnt think it would happen that fast, but obviously we timed things right (w/o even trying mind you...my husband had just come home from a business trip and we of course did the deed cuz we hadnt seen each other in a week! LOL!) But yeah, it was WAY faster than I thought we would be able to concieve, so best of luck to you!!!
