decided to keep the name of your LO a secret until he/she is born?

SO and i decided that we will not be sharing this baby's name until after the birth cert is filled out and the baby is 100% named. we decided ths because we had so many people telling us DD's name is ugly and to choose something else, but we chose it in honor of my grandfather. and honestly, its a very classic name and i love it on her. but this way, no one can tell us to change the baby's name and they can just deal with it.

however SO does want to share our name IDEAS with his best friends, and also his family... idk if i like this but i cant really stop him.

how did it turn out for you, to keep LO's name a secret til he/she was born?

That's what DH and I have decided to do with this baby. We've been toying around with names and told our ideas to family and friends. Now we've got her name set in stone and no one knows what it is.

We didn't announce her name until we filled out the BC (right before we left the hospital). We kept it a secret mostly because we weren't 100% sure. I was afraid we'd change our minds and everyone would be stuck on the name. It worked out well not telling anyone IRL. When I mentioned that we were considering the name we used, I got a lot of "that's an old lady's name" comments. Nobody made any rude comments once it was officially her name.  

ETA: I did announce it to my BG friends before she was born, though.

i just dont want to hear the whole "that name is hideous, are you sure thats what you want to name him/her" it sucked because no one liked it for DD but now no one can imagine her anything else. but my grandfather asked me after a major surgery that they didnt expect him to make it out of alive, if i would name my daughter "V" for him because its such a beautiful name. i found out i was pregnant 3 months later, and my DD was born on the day (1 year later) that he had his surgery, the day she was named.

Yes, we did with DD, and DS1. I made a huge mistake and told my mom the names we chose for this LO, and her response rubbed me the wrong way. It was a name that I absolutely loved, that DD actualyl picked.. I was so sad with her response.. Why I told her I have no idea, it just came out while we were talking, but I really wished I hadn't said anything, there's no need to tell anyone. So now DH and I have been looking at a new first and middle name for DS2.. This baby completes our family, but if we were to have more children, nobody will know the names until the baby is born, just as we did with DD and DS1.

i probably would announce it to a PTOT thread when i decide it, and then from there make it a Do not quote thread, because i plan to keep the name to myself on here, as i do with DD. lol

  I don't blame you. I mostly discussed the name in my PTOT, but I did post a poll about it before we finalized it. I wanted to tell SOMEONE, just not anyone who knows either one of our families. lol.

I can definitely understand that. I wouldn't want a bunch of negative opinions on a name I knew for a fact I'd be using. We choose to keep this name a secret because with my first I went through 50+ because everyone had something negative to say about all of them. So I ended up named my daughter almost 2 days after she was born and no one knew what I was naming her either.

And like i said, my daughters name is NOT ugly lol, just not something thats used every day. i can tell you but you cant quote, and it will be gone right after lol

her name has so much meaning to me. especially because he just passed away in April, it means that much more. my boy name, his name will be incorporated in with it somehow.

I love the name! V____ is beautiful!   I tend to love a lot of V names, though.

i love her name it fits her so well...

SO wont let me use a V name for this baby. he only liked DD's V name, and doesnt like any other!

Boo! But, maybe it's best not to get too matchy. Lol. I love E names, but DH doesn't want all of our kids to have E names.
