2nd baby celebration instead of shower
posted 31st Jul '12
So I have a 2.5 year old daughter right now and I'm due in December with another little girl.
I want to have a shower, but not for gifts or anything, I just want to celebrate the new baby and play games and see all those people I love.
Has anyone ever done this before? I'm just not sure how to go about making invitations. I don't want people to think they have to bring something, because we really don't need anything and I just want their company.

We had a "baby sprinkle" for this one and in the invites asked that.if anyone wanted to bring a gift, make it diapers or a book. We had a big dinner in a lifted Italian restaurant. Very fun.

Ahhhh, ok I don't think I've ever heard it called that! Then again there hasn't been many babies in the past 10 years in my family.
Thanks :-)

How about a diaper shower?
You could make invitations with this saying:
There's going to be a change.... join us for a diaper shower celebrating the latest addition to the <insert last name> Family.

My best friends threw me a suprise baby sprinkle. The friend who actually planned it, told everyone that they did not have to bring any gifts. Instead everyone decided to chip in whatever they felt they could and gave us the money to buy stuff we thought we may want seeing we had just had another son 18 months before.
They ended up chipping in so much, I bought a double stroller and a few other things. It was a really nice gesture especially considering I had a shower the year before and my husband and I are financially secure.

I consider doing that. I've heard of people doing a raffle or something and anyone that brings diapers gets entered and whoever gets picked gets a gift card or something.

I was thinking about doing something like this for this baby, since it's most likely going to be my last.
When you send out invites you can put something like "The only presents needed is the presence of your love" or something like that. Or "Presents not required." etc.
