My 3 year old

posted 31st Jul '12
I started to notice that my 3 year old acting really weird. I had called my ex's mother which is my daughter's father's mother. I asked her if her father had ADD or ADHD or anything. She said yes, my whole family does. I'm worried because I feel like she does. I know doctors can't really detect that on her now. But she always cries, she always destroys her room like really bad. I also had seen her speech is off. I'm really new to all of this and I have no idea what to do. My daughter's father is getting her military insurance so I can get her a better doctorv but I have no idea how to go about all this situation. My ex's mother said doctors have worked with her kids and made improvement. I'm still clueless.

Maybe buy a book about ways to help develop around ADD. I would not have my 3 year old seen for something like that. I would just be aware and then keep an eye out.

I agree. My 3 year old throws RIDICULOUS tamtrums that make me want to have him instituationalized.

My daughter destroys her room too, she turns 3 on Sunday. I never thought she had ADD/ADHD. I think all 3 year olds have attention deficit hyperactivity

If you're really concerned, you can call your county DHS and get some early childhood intervention evaluations. My 11 year old has had intervention since he was about that age, he's autistic.

Add/adhd are a set of symptoms working together and create problems with home and academic life. Hyperness and irritability sounds like a bored child to me. My 9 year old son has adhd. He doesnt ever get mad, he never yells, or causes problems. He is in most ways a perfect child, but he cant focus on things that dont interest him, he cant fallow a series of commands, He also has amazing focus on things that do interest him. There are many many things. Most of which are normal for a 3 year old. Its when it doesnt go away, and affects them and their surroundings. It is not something to just say when they arent being a perfect little kid, which does not exsist.

What do you mean by "her speech is off"? Off as in she doesn't have proper language development for her age? Is she verbal? My son is non-verbal and he gets frustrated and loud if he has a pain or something bothers him that he can't express.

Maybe I should have been more specific< I had to leave in a hurry. But she has been this way since she was 2 years old. I have a 3 year old stepson and he's like a normal 3 year old, she acts a lot different. I don't know how to explain it. Her grandma sensed it but I'm not sure if she does.. I'm saying she might.

Yes, for her age she should be speaking more words and words together but she has a hard time.
I'm also hard of hearing, I have that problem and I'm wondering if she got that from me.

Your county DHS can help get her evaluated with an Early Childhood Screening
