so basically the only chance of having one is if you go into labor on your own?? i never went into labor on my own i was induced a week late and ended up with a cetion.

Everything I have read (and my Dr.)suggests not to induce with a V-BAC. I am against inducing anyway. I watched the documentary "The Business of Being Born" (with Rikki Lake) and they siad that these drugs caused more intense contraction's than your body would normally have and that causes stress on the baby and the heart rate would slow. (often leading to a C-section)It seems to be best to let your body do what it is supposed to do without adding "super" contractions that your body/baby have stress with. Of course, that's just my opinion! I am hoping everything goes well so I don't have to have surgery again! I am in the gym 5 days a week and a C-section ruins my abs! lol

thats actually what I had heard, that they don't like to use pitocin to induce more active labor.
I'm hoping that if he stays under the 8lb limit, that I'll go into labor on my own around 36 weeks like I did with the others that were small enough to drop down into the birth canal.

im so jealous of the ladies who were able to have a vaginal birth. I would really want to try a VBAC if we have another baby but my doctor told me that they are recently finding out of more complications and risks so instead of suggesting it to people (like the hospital would normally do, mine anyways) she said they were, they are now trying to avoid it. She said the complications for another c-section are far less than that of a VBAC. I don't really know much complications except the uterine rupture so i have to research it.

but if it was safe..i would DEFINATLY want to do it.

that is SO true. i had no choice but to be induced but i knew c-section would be a higher possibility. the contractions i had were so intense my babys heart rate dropped and caused too much stress that her heart was lowering so they needed a c-section asap.

My SIL was gonna do a V-Bac with her 2nd Pregnancy but due to complications she had to have another c-section. She later got her tubes tied and her doctor said it was a good she had the c-section cause there was so much scar tissue from her first c-section and was worsened by her 2nd that having a v-bac or even getting pregnant again would have cause her to rupture especially having the 2nd c-section.

Latest Research on VBAC safety
Often women today are told that VBAC's carry more risk than elective repeat cesareans. We know that the statistic of uterine rupture is consistently found to be about 1%. While it is agreed that uterine rupture is not benign, there are several complications and risks from cesarean that are frequently left out of discussions.
A recent study (Green Journal, Oct. 2006) found that women who had a VBAC, showed decreased risks for overall major complications, as well as minor complications such as a fever and the likelihood of needing a blood transfusion than women who had an elective repeat cesarean.
Another recent study (BJOG, July 2006) found that women who had undergone an elective repeat cesarean had a higher chance of having a hysterectomy than those that women attempting a VBAC.

I would if I could. I had an emergency c-section with my first almost 6 years ago. My doctor told me if I went in to labor before 37 weeks with my 2nd baby I could attempt a vbac but that didn't happen so I ended up with another c-section. I read everything I could on vbacs and the risks aren't as high as everyone wants to think. Its just if something does go wrong it's normally not an easy fix.

See, that's my fear is having another section but this time its emergency becuase I'm one of those unlucky people that stuff just randomly happens too
I'm still thinking about just going ahead with the c-section though.......

I had a c-section with my first because they were twins and could not turn into position. It wentfine. My second was a VBAC, which also was fine. The only thing was she was 2 1/2 weeks late. My doctor would not induce me because he said the chances ofending up having a c-section are increased when you are induced. So both ways were fine. It is a personal choice. I'm having this one ( I"m 31 1/2 wks) c- section because I want to have my tubes tied since this will be my fourth kid, otherwise I would go vaginal again. I just don't want to have to have my tubes tied after birth. Do it all at once for me and cut me once!! Good luck with whatever you decide!
