38 Weeks with questions

posted 31st Jul '12
I'm 38 weeks and trying to get ready for labor.

I herd walking is good, but how much and how often ?
10 minute squats for easier labor. how often in one day should this be done?
&& any other things you can think of would be helpful I'm up to trying everything. except sex or that oil stuff people always talk about.
thanks !!!

With pregnancy number two the hospital made me go outside and walk for 1 hour straight which actually helped me dilate.

Nothing is going to put you into labor, so I would suggest relaxing while you still can. And yeah, stay away from castor oil.

I just assumed she was trying to put herself into labor since she mentioned "that oil".

Have you been active throughout your pregnancy? Staying fit during pregnancy can help make labor smoother. Walking during labor is good, because the pressure from the baby's head helps the cervix to dilate. Squats can be helpful, too. First labors usually aren't fast, though.

stretching, walking, kegals, swimming, and other excersises that stretch your abs and pelvic muscles will help. there was a recent study i read that said women who ate dates in the last trimester (4 or more a day) had shorter labor. I have also read that drinking herbal tea with raspberry leaf can help with a shorter labor causing the contractions to be stronger. Relaxing is a big part if you stress out (though i know it is hard not to) that constricts the muscles and makes it harder for them to function at full capacity. is this your first? With my first i ended up not being so lucky with labor. But im hopeing with this one it wont be such a nightmare. Ive found that some yoga positions that stretch your hips and pelvic area help alot with the strength and ability of my muscles. Hope this helps good luck

yes very active but the past couple of weeks i just haven't been up to anything and i noticed i started having lower back pain, so today i went for a 40 min walk and it helped alot , and i also started doing squats every now and then it really helps release my lower back pain. but im doing the walking so my labor won't be as bad as im expecting it to be.

SO has had me walking along the beach and up the cliffs which takes about an hour to get to the peak and an hour back. He's also had me swivelling my hips for 30 seconds then squating, and repeating the process for an hour. He's more eager than I am!! Haha
Nothing has worked for me so far and probably won't until I'm actually in labour.

Also, you said no to sex but its not the actual sex part that will help, its the orgasm part so, if your saying no to sex because your single or something then try masturbation
