My baby boy cries all the time

posted 31st Jul '12
My gorgeous boy is 12 days old & all he seems to do is cry all the time, when i change him, pick him up, put him in his bassinettte, feed him, he cries when he is in the stroller etc. I dread going into town cos he cries non stop & i can not get anything done. Im driving me nuts to the point ill burst out crying or just leave him cry for a few minute, there are times where i have to leave him for longer cos i need to shower or a use the toilet. Im so exhausted & i have a constant headache
I do try calm him with a dummy or a hug or use a sling, i check his nappy, sing to him almost everything the only thing that works is feeding him, he feeds well & then falls asleep, i feed him constantly. My partner is slightly annoyed & i feel im losing him  My bub doesnt sleep well at night by himself so i co sleep but im so worried i can not sleep properly myself when he is in bed with us. Will it get get better?? i do understand he is a newborn but wow" i never thought he would be crying aall the time.

He could have reflux or colic. Call and check with your pedi to see if it is anything that can be helped. I know it is rough but you will get through it.

He is scared. Poor little guy is in this big world trying to figure out if it is a good place to be in or not. If he is continuing to cry non stop I would contact your pediatrician. There might be something triggering him to cry. Do you swaddle him? I know I swaddled my daughter and held her constantly as a newborn.

Could be colic, or could be fear.

But don't let him scream so you can shower, that's definitely NOT going to help anything at all.

Baths usually helped when children where fussy. Is it the heat that's bothering him?

It's winter here, so it wouldn't be the heat.

How often do you burp him op? Coul be reflux or colic. Maybe check with the pedi. Do you swaddle him tightly?

Colic maybe? I would talk to his doc they can give you some drops and they will make your world a better place. They were thinking my little guy had colic but reflux instead we just started adding rice cereal to his bottle and my god what a difference. I know how you feel about whats going on with your SO we had a little speed bump when our son what your sons age. We worked thru it and are now doing amazing. I am sure the new baby is having a toll on him also hopefully you two can talk it out and get thru it. Hope things get better with your LO and SO.

It could be colic, try putting him in a hot bath, or wrap a warm towel around his stomach to get him to relax, if its colic or wind and you keep feeding him it will make it worse, you cant give them anything like infacol wind drops until there 4 weeks old, hope this helps.

Awe, I'm sorry to hear this! It can be so hard! I'd say call your dr. and talk to them in case there's something medical going on. Otherwise, I agree with the others with swaddling... it makes a world of a difference with my son. And gripe water or gas relief drops if you think it's gas. Also, if he's nursing, maybe try nursing more frequently - maybe he's going through a growth spurt and is hungry. I hope something works for you!
