Strech Marks.

posted 14th May
So, i'm a first time mother. I bought the Palmer Cocoa Butter, but I can't stand the smell of it. What do you ladies use? Before I got pregnant I lived and died by Johnson's and Johnson's Shea and Cocoa Butter. I am wondering if that's strong enough to help with the strech marks.

I think anything with a good amount of cocoa butter or vitamin E is fine. Look on the ingredients for the Palmer's and see how far down on the list of ingredients cocoa butter is and then compare to other brands you like better.

I've used Palmer's Cocoa Butter the moment I found out I was preggo...It helped to put off the stretchmarks for a while, but as soon as my son dropped (about 34 weeks) they popped up over night...It may not smell so pleasent, but it has helped a lot...The only other thing that has helped was drinking a lot of water and staying hydrated...Keeps the skin moist and helps it stretch...I plan on getting some of that Mederma scar cream or whatever after he's born...

It is all genetics. If it makes you feel better than use whatrever you want but there is no miracle lotion out there.

I'm not sure if that's completely true....none of the women in my family have stretch marks but when my cousin got pregnant she got them BAD!

Exactly, you cant prevent stretch marks no matter what lotions out there promise it. All you can do is lessen the appearence and any scar cream can do that not just cocoa butter. Thats what strech marks are "scars".

Every woman and every body along with every pregnancy is different. Its your own person genetics but you are more "likely" to get them if they run in your family. Its true. There not magical cream that prevents them. Only lessens the appearence. Talk to a doctor and they will tell you the same thing.

Genetics come from both sides of the family. So I would bet you the women on the other side of her family have them.
