It does have a lot to do with genetics. But if you've stayed in shape most of your life and always drank a lot of water, I heard that helps with the elasticity of your skin. Starting something now probably won't help much. I used lotions anyway, just cuz my skin was always itchy from the stretching. I just bought the new Curel Pregnancy & Motherhood lotion. It keeps my skin soft all day, but my hands felt oily for hours after I put it on, I had to wash them a couple times so I could grip things again.

Here is a cool site for home remedies to stretch marks. It maybe completely worth trying. I have somoe on my tighs growing up and I wasnt even over weight or anything. It could be a scam but it could also be really helpful.

The big change was the move from Florida the Germany for three years. This is a HUGE change lol I like the outdoors but I dont like snow 8 months out of the year or even the prices up here. It was cheaper in Germany and I had the exchange rate to deal with there.

I've heard it's all genetic. But I feel like my skin is pulling/popping at times so I use lotion anyways. I have been using the new stuff Curel made for pregnancy and I LOVE it!! It's like six or seven bucks. I like the smell and it's not real greasy.I put it on when I get out of the shower and before I go to bed. But I just started using Jergans Express Glow (I dunno if that's the name or not) So I've been using it in the am and the curel before bed.

Quoting Jayda's_Mama!:“ I'm not sure if that's completely true....none of the women in my family have stretch marks but when my cousin got pregnant she got them BAD!”

i think they are hereiterary but they can be prevented because my mother and both sisters including my twin got stretch marks but i didnt. the stuff i use makes the skin elastic so that it stretches. if u don't use anything at all ur skin is taunt and it pulls as it stretches.

I use Burts Bees belly butter. I'm 5 1/2 months and so far no stretch marks. We'll see what happens though.

nah its all a scam.... all the lotions do is soothe the itchy skin as it stretches, if you already have any marks anywhere you will most likely get them, whether you lather up 2x a day or not.... plus just look at your mom, did she have them while pregnant? that tells you what you will have or not. i use body butter, but only because it makes my tummy feel soooo soothed. i have a few stretch marks, only where my belly button was pierced...so far..and a few just appeared on the girls... im just happy that i didnt get the infamous cat claws
