ABA Therapy

Ever have a tutor/therapist you just didnt like? Not on a personal level but because they didnt go by the behavior plan set from the beginning.

We've been using this company for less than a year and hes made tremendous gains and breakthroughs, but I feel as though they were made by 1 tutor. His availability change and he could no longer work with our family. We've had 4 tutors since, either they quit the company or their schedules change. The tutor we have on M-W-F right now has been with us for about 2 months, not long at all and we arent seeing anymore improvements. In some areas I feel hes regressing. She baby's him. He has emotional outbursts that have aggressive tendencies sometimes and today he threw a sippy cup at me while I was holding the baby. She was standing right next to him, didnt try to prevent it or redirect him, nothing. I've expressed my concerns to the supervisor of my sons case. She came on Friday to observe session and we all had a talk about how the behavior plan works and it has to be followed so he has consistency. Shes also doing things hes mastered already, like his shapes. She tried to get him to name them off and he acted like he didnt know them. I told her after session that hes bored because hes already mastered them. I think that her lackadaisical attitude is a contributor to his behavior during session, but also that hes bored and tired from not sleeping.

I had to talk to his supervisor again today and she just says ok I'll come out and monitor again to try to change things. My husband is ready to fire the whole company and go somewhere else. I'm just so frustrated. I keep telling him school is going to start soon and we'll have to get a new tutor then anyway because the current M-W-F session times will clash with school.

I would fire them I was an therapist a while back and even if your in the room she is still supposed to go by whatever behavior plan that you and the school have in place. The only thing is in home therapy is a little rough because some people are intimidated by t he parents lol that was never me though

Yeah, its all in home and I've told her I'll be here but I'm going to let you do your thing. The only time I've stepped in is if he is doing something dangerous and she isnt or shes blatantly disregarding the behavior plan and I am kind of telling her in an indirect way this is what is supposed to happen.

Yeah of course you are her boss in a way she need to follow the plan thats ridiculous for you to have to keep monnitering her, then that means you are not comfortable with her and neither is your child. I practically had a key to my parents house lol they would leave because they knew their child was in good care

We arent allowed to leave. I took the trash out one day and the supervisor told me I couldnt do that. Someone over 18 has to always be here.

O I was doing it on my own after the school I was working with closed down. Parents wanted me so I started my own little thing along with a behavior analysts who they paid to make the programs and keep up with the progress so things were great aww I miss my kiddies
