LO is his responsibility and you're trying to give him an easy way out. My XH owes over 70,000 in back CS. He's had his license taking away and spent time in jail, but like the other mama I started seeing a little here and there. He finally learned his lesson and got a job. Your LO deserves for you to stick up for him not his dead beat dad.

He doesn't want any part in LO's life. He's been trying to convince me to put LO up for adoption. He doesn't want to pay. He's fought me just trying to get it in place just so I could work since I needed help with daycare.

By having a child support order against him is not forcing him to do smurf it's in place and when ever his sorry ass gets a job you will have money. You are not calling him hounding him for smurf thats trying to force. I have people come in my office kids grown and they are getting a part of t heir exes social security pay think of it as back damn pay one day he will get some money from some where and bam you will have extra money. Once again the State will always feel like it is both parents responsibility why should they help you when you don't want to make the neccesary steps to atleast get wha'ts rightfully your childs money. This is basically the states way of thinking.

Do you food stamps, medical, etc?

Just daycare assistance and LO's on medical until September when I get my insurance through work.

If you are on any type of assistance, they make you file for support ( in most states), and you can get a restraining order on him. They can take his rights away, and still make him pay. Simply because he's violent. I have been dealing with child support for 11 yrs, and I have heard every excuse in the book, as to why he can't pay, but I didn't back down. Just because you have a job, doesn't mean you have enough to support you and your son. A day is going to come when you won't have enough money for something important. And you are going to wish then, that you didn't stop the child support.
