staph vs yeast

Do they look similar?
I brought kaden into the doctor cause I thought he had a yeast infection. It looks like a diaper rash, but it's not going away and i've used multiple different creams on it. She said it looks a little funny for a yeast infection, so diagnosed it as a staph infection. I didn't realize it was even possible to get staph in a diaper area.

Sure. You can get a staph infection anywhere. Staph aureus is normal flora on pretty much all body surfaces.

Ohh its all too easy for some people to get staph in any area. My Kaden has gotten it on every part of his body. But Im no help as to if they look alike because Ive never seen a yeast infection.

I did a lot of googling of rashes before bringing him in, and it definitely looks more like a yeast than staph. And she has misdiagnosed him before, so I'm leary of her.   There are just very few pedis in my area.
I just know google isn't that reliable that's why I asked if it's possible for them to look similar.

Do they look that similar though? Initially she agreed to yeast then 30 seconds later changed it to staph since it "looks a little funny for a yeast infection"

What creams have you been using? A yeast infection won't clear up with Desitin or the like. It will need an antifungal. How did she diagnose it? Did she swab and culture it?

No swab or culture. Just looked at it. It was an hour past close so she was rushing   I've used johnsons, burts bees, triple paste, and bordeauxs. I was going to buy monitstat tomorrow (I was told that helps yeast) if that's what she said it was.

If you haven't used any antifungals, it could very well be a yeast infection. I mean, it's possible that it's staph, but even a doctor can't know that for certain without culturing it. Does the area have satellite lesions (little individual red bumps off by themselves)?

They're all grouped. It's 2 large red patches with tons of little red bumps within each patch. It's right in the fold of his legs, I don't know how to describe the spot.

Did the doctor prescribe anything for it? I would try some antifungal cream. It may take a few days for it to clear up, but it will probably do the trick. Also, let him air out as much as possible.

She wrote a prescription, but it was 6pm by the time we left so I can't pick it up until tomorrow. It's a bacterial cream though, I can't rremember the exact name.

My sister in law has been battling what she thought was eczema/psoriasis on her dd's scalp, eyelids, ears, ear canals, privates and body.......She's 6 now and has just been diagnosed with staph.........Hopefully she can heal!
I also believe our children express emotional distress through their skin and skin irritations!
