Ticks!

posted 14th May
This really doesnt have anything to do with babies or parenting, but I'm so annoyed! I live on a ranch and I have a few dogs, my two big outside dogs think they should go to the river and swim everyday. I check the dogs for ticks everyday and I just finished pulling about 30 ticks off the two big dogs and now i itch because i keep thinking they're on me.

So has anyone heard of any natural tick prevention methods, I cant get to town to buy the tick drops until next week.

you can try lemon juice. It isnt perfect but it always helped us with the dogs back home to atleast decrease the numbers.

Lemon- citrus is a natural flea repellent. Slice a lemon (score and leave the peel on) and pour 1 cup of boiling water over it. Let sit overnight- this water can then be sprayed on your dog. This will kill fleas and temporarily prevent new ones from taking up residence on your dog.

I found it under flea & tick

you really shouldn't be picking ticks off them.. some types of ticks can cause Lime disease...the lil gray ones(deer ticks) i know for sure do... try pouring a bottle of alcohol on there backs..

I use lemon juice to get rid of skunk smell on them, so i guess i'm gonna have to coat them in it before and after they go swimming everyday

We had them bad cause we lived right by the swamp andwoodsso it didnt get rid of them completely but it does help. I dont think you get lime desease by pulling them out. We were always told to pull them out asap by doctors and vets so you DONT get lime desease and make sure you get the head and not just the body.
