DD's father..ugh...*vent*

posted 30th Jul '12
I work at my school as a student worker. I am paid through FAFSA- my job is classified as work study. It's like a federally funded work experience. I am a single mom on cash aid, because my job is a "work experience" they do not count it as income, therefore I get the full amount of cash aid, and I get almost all the help they can offer. It is EXTREMELY helpful when it comes to trying to focus on my classes. It also does not count as income when I applied for low-income housing. So the apartment I just got has EXTREMELY low rent. ....Naturally I am excited for all these things to be falling into place, I feel I am in a way regaining my independence...however, DD's father is pissed. He says my job is not a real job, he says I need to quit this job and get a REAL job. what he fails to realize is that if i were to get a REAL job, then they would count that income, my aid would go down, my rent would go up, etc. etc. Am I in the wrong to be offended by what he's saying? It's not like I'm getting this sweet hook up for nothing! I am a single mom, I have DD 5-6 nights a week, I take care of everything for her, I bust my ass in school and I work my "fake" job. Why would he harass me like this? ugh. so annoying

He has no right to say anything or tell you what to do.

Those services are there to HELP you, & help you grow. You're taking full advantage of them (which you should be doing), so don't let him make you feel bad. It's really none of anybody's business but your own.

Tell him you'll get a "real" job of he increases his child support to offset the loss of income
