Beautician mama's...help!!

So...for a few months I had my friend dyeing my hair for me; a gorgeous red. It was dye from Sally's salon. I got the the point where the upkeep was too much and I didn't have enough cash to pay her to make my hair somewhat natural colored again-so I took a go at it.

I bought Color Oops (I've done this in the past and it was fine), and a box of dye and did it myself. My hair is now a strawberry-orangeish blonde. I hate it-but I kept it this was because I was blow drying it after I dyed it and a couple hairs by my neck had like melted together and broke right off.

I'm like a dirty blonde naturally...I would settle for a light brown at this point. It's been about 2 weeks now since I did this all. Would I be able to dye my hair without the fear of it melting off?

I don't know what to do...what product I could even use...please help.  

Putting a light brown dye over it would be fine. If your really worried use a semi permanent.

I thought of dyeing a small patch to make sure it wouldn't melt...

I think since its been 2 weeks since you last dyed it, it should be fine..... Some people do it the next day or so, and are fine?

You could do. Sounds like you need a conditioning treatment too.
