If your son/daughter came home and said they were gay..

What would you do?

Also, what if you found out they were gay but they didn't tell you themselves? Would you be pissed off or hurt, another emotion? Explain.

Keep in mind, this is when your son or daughter is in their late teens/early 20's..not now. Keep this serious.

Love them and accept them? I'd assume I'd probably already secretly know.

I would hug them and thank them for sharing with me, and secretly be super happy that I had a relationship with my child where they felt they could tell me anything.

I would honestly be a little sad. I would love them no matter what.

I suppose I wouldn't do anything. I would just be the mother of a gay child. They would still be loved just as much.

I would support them, and anyone in my family that had a problem with it could go eff themselves.

It's sad so many people are disowned and abandoned by families for something they can't help. They are still your children and the same person you love, they just have a different preference when it comes to what they are attracted to.

Love and accept them for who they are.

With my son...Id be ecstatic!! Maybe its wrong of me, but the idea of a gay son sounds fabulous to me  

With my daughter...Id be happy she knows who she is.

They will always be my child. I would still love them.

Tell them it doesn't matter to me because I still love them and ask what they wanted as a side dish with dinner. My husband would probably say something like "well, now that you know too, can we go fishing?"  

Love them just as much as I did the day they were born. My baby is my baby; gay, straight, transsexual...doesn't matter. I would never try to make my child suppress their feelings because of judgement from others or anything like that.

Give them a big hug, and let them know that they will always have my love and support. I would be happy that they were comfortable enough to tell me.
