I spank my child.... DON'T JUDGE please

I spank my daughter. I feel as if she is old enough to know better, I'm sure this will probably upset lots of parents, but I don't care. My daughter has gotten to where she will throw fits when she doesn't get her way, and I will not allow it! All of my nieces and nephews parents do not believe in spanking and there kids do as they please including to the point of hitting mine and others kids. Their kids talk back all the time, it's just awful. I DO NOT beat my children, but I do smack my daughters hands and I do lightly smack her bottom (with a diaper on) to get my point across.
I am starting to get discouraged tho because I am getting so much crap for it from my husbands family.... I just need some support from other parents who spank as well, and if anyone has said anything to you about it, what do you say back?

15 months is way too young IMO.

You are spanking a baby! Your child is not old enough to know right from wrong.

Spanking really only teaches them to hit as well just like her cousins do

I'm not against spanking in general, although I don't spank.........but your child is only a little over 1. Too young IMO.

You spank your 15 month old?  
She's barely even a toddler, I'd give you smurf too.

She doesn't know better. She's exploring her world. She can probably barely even talk. Spanking is really not okay that young.

Way to young to smack her hand of she is doing something wrong? I think not. My daughter knows what no means and she knows when she is doing wrong. If you don't start now, they will never learn.
But again I wasn't asking for your thoughts on if I'm right for doing so, I was asking other parents who do the same their thought.

No it doesn't.

My almost 5 year old was spanked and she knows hitting is wrong.

Yeah, hitting her is gonna make her learn.

She's a smurfing baby.

15 months old and she "knows better?" I doubt that.

Way too young to be spanking her.

She is not old enough to know right from wrong, spanking a baby/toddler only confuses them!

If she's getting into something redirect her, consistent redirection. She won't be an unruly brat if you don't allow that behavior but "spanking to get your point across" is just asking too much of her.

I agree. I spanked my son once and he turned around and smacked me back. Then it dawned on me i am just teaching him to hit! Duh me!!
